The Ann Sather restaurant at 5207 N Clark in Andersonville will close by the end of the year.  Owner (and Lakeview Alderman) Tom Tunney announced he has sold the building to Newcastle Ltd. and leased back the space through December, at which point the location will close – however the two locations in Lakeview and the newer Edgewater location on Granville will remain open.  Last year Ann Sather closed another location in West Lakeview on Southport, which will soon become a Gap clothing store.  The Andersonville location has been open since 1987.

“After careful consideration, I decided to consolidate our Andersonville-area restaurants at our newest location at 1147 West Granville,” Tunney said in a news release. “To ensure an orderly transition, I negotiated leasing back the restaurant through the end of the year. Our additional locations at 909 W. Belmont and 3411 N. Broadway also will remain open and are not affected by this business decision.”

According to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds, Newcastle paid $950,000 for the building.  Newcastle owns many properties on the Andersonville commercial strip, including the buildings currently home to Hamburger Mary’s and the Andersonville Galleria which they purchased in 2008.
