Gold Crown Barber closing shop

The man behind Gold Crown Barber Salon is closing shop and heading home. Anyone who has stepped foot into the tiny 8′ x 23′ store front is probably familiar with the man behind the scissors, Rex.  He’s the owner and the only barber and always made it a point to get to know his clientele while giving them an affordable cut.  Despite building up a large, loyal client base that would sometimes wait hours for his services, Rex is calling it quits.  After five years of snipping and shaving on Balmoral and six years of living in Chicago Rex has decided to move back home to Oregon. 

 

Rex states on a blog post earlier this week:  “With much hesitation & much sadness, I’ve decided to close my lovely, little salon…..and head back to Oregon.  I’ve been struggling with this decision (privately), for some time now.  Honestly, I had planned to do another 4 years in Chicago….. but things didn’t quite work out the way I had anticipated.” 

 

The final day of operation at the shop will be Saturday, January 28th.  We wish Rex the very best in his move back to Oregon and his future endeavours.
